Dato’ Mohamad Othman Zainal Azim PEng, BSc, MSc, M.ACEM
Dato’ Mohamad Othman Zainal Azim graduated with Bachelor of Science in 1977 from Birmingham University, United Kingdom, where he also later obtained his Masters of Science Degree. He served in various positions in the Public Works Department and Ministry of Works of Malaysia, at state and federal levels--as Building Engineer (Negeri Sembilan); District Engineer, Tampin, NS; Highway Planner in the Highway Planning Unit; Senior Executive Engineer, Road Design, and later Superintending Engineer in the Road Design Unit at headquarters; and Deputy Director of JKR Perak. Responsibillities included budget preparation and allocation for buildings and roads for the 3rd to 6th Malaysia Plans and the implementation of approved projects; management of district and state JKR operations; implementation of infrastructure projects and maintenance government assets; regional develop-ment studies and planning and development of infrastructure networks and National Highway Network Plan; development of Research and Advisory Resource Centre for Roads Standards and Specifications; development of Road Safety Data Centre; development of road network data and designation; development of technical guidelines; performing road design and road safety studies and implementing improvement measures; implementation of ADB and World Bank funded projects; organizational management; human resource development; project management; asset management and budget control.
In 2000, he joined Putrajaya Corpo-rationPutrajaya Corporation , first as Director, City Development Department from 2000 to 2002, with responsibility for development of public utilities and infrastructure for the new Federal Administrative Capital of Putrajaya, and then as Chief Executive Officer from 2002 to 2006. As CEO, he was responsible for the planning, budgeting and implementation of roads, bridges, utilities, lakes and wetlands, office buildings, residential and commercial development in Putrajaya and ensuring acceptable economic returns to and value creation for stakeholders. He retired from Putrajaya Corporation to become a Director of Straits Consulting Engineers at the end of 2006.
Ir. Abdul Wahab Abdul Hamid BSc, MBA. Peng, MIEM
Ir. Abd Wahab Abdul Hamid graduated with Bachelor of Science from Loughbrough University in 1979. He served with JKR as Project Engineer and Road Engineer from 1979 to 1982 involving survey works, design of flexible pavement, maintenance of Federal roads, design of road alignment and land acquisition. He has served as Group General Manager and Chief Executive in UEM, Faber Group Bhd, Kinta Kellas PLC, Proluik Development Sdn Bhd (now known as UEM Land Sdn Bhd), Golden Hope Plantation Bhd, Ranhill Civil Sdn Bhd and SAJ Holdings Sdn Bhd. Therefore he has extensive experience in Civil Engineering works and was involved in some of Malaysia’s large infrastructure projects such as North South Expressway Construction of R.C. Dams and Waste Treatment Plants, Housing Projects, ELITE Highway Malaysia-Singapore Second Crossing and Johor Water Projects.

Datuk Ir. Syed Azmi Othman, BSc, PEng, MIEM
Chief Executive Officer
Datuk Ir. Syed Azmi Othman graduated with Bachelor of Engineering from Monash University Australia in 1980. He served with PERNAS Construction Sdn Bhd from 1980-1990 as Project Engineer and Project Manager undertaking various Civil Engineering Project such as Kuantan Airport, Kuantan-Segamat Highway project, Western Johor roads, Labuan Water Supply, Sg. Petani Toll Expressway and International Islamic University Building works. He has served in various capacities in UEM group from 1990-2004 as Contract Manager in UEM, General Manager in PLUS, Project Director for the Commonwealth Games Sport Complex and Games Village at Bukit Jalil and Managing Director at Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd that owns Hazardous waste Treatment facilities at Bukit Nenas, Negeri Sembilan.
He has served as Managing Director for Infra Expert Development, Development Director for Metro Ikram Sdn Bhd and Director for Maxcorp Group that Undertakes Housing Development Project in Johor, Pakistan and various project proposal presentation in Turkey, Egypt and South Africa.
Amin Ramli, BSc, P.E, CPeng, M.ASCE, MIEAust
Chief Operating Officer
Amin Ramli pursued a degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the same institution where his late father and founder of Straits Consulting Engineers, Dato’ Ir Dr Ramli Mohamad, obtained his Masters and PhD. Upon graduating in 2004, he was recruited as a Civil Engineer by STV Incorporated, an award winning A/E/C company based in the United States. He was based in STV’s Philadelphia, USA office where he served some of their biggest clients such as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. As a civil engineer, he performed detail design of alignments, typical sections, drainage, earthwork, safety studies, traffic, storm water management, hydraulic studies, utilities, property impacts, environmental impacts and various permits. He worked on high profile and complex projects and dealt with various US stakeholders such as legislators, government agencies, environmental groups and landowners. He remained at STV and became a Project Manager where he managed several other major civil and transportation projects throughout the United States.
He returned to Malaysia in 2011 and joined Straits Consulting Engineers, sharing his late father’s vision for the company and continuing his legacy of building a great Malaysia.
